Advantages of horizontal machining centers:
- The first is the horizontal spindle arrangement, which prevents large amounts of chips from accumulating in the machining area. Horizontal spindles are designed with a more rigid design, including a vibration-reducing system (such as a pneumatic one).
- A second advantage is the dual-pallet worktable design combined with a 4th axis: horizontal rotation (B-axis) in 1° or 0.001° increments. The second pallet saves time on removing and installing workpieces, which is especially beneficial in mass production, while the table rotation allows for machining all sides of the part.
- The third advantage arises from the horizontal tool arrangement and the possibility of implementing a turret-style tool changer. If more than two wheels are used, more complex designs (like a chain-type tool feed) are possible, allowing for a large number of tools to be accommodated in a small space: 40, 90, or even 120 positions.
Horizontal machining centers are designed for the complex processing of body parts made of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, performing operations such as drilling, countersinking, reaming, boring holes according to coordinates, etc.
