This type of vertical machining center combines two types of processing—drilling and milling—allowing for several key functions: drilling, holemaking (reaming, countersinking), face milling, and horizontal milling. This combination of two machine types also saves space and equipment costs. While these machines produce complex, high-precision parts, productivity and machining quality are improved rather than compromised. Other advantages include easy retooling for parts of various configurations and quick and accurate calibration, ensuring compliance with required technical and process parameters. The use of CNC further improves the quality of the resulting parts: the automatic system ensures precise positioning of the part and tool relative to each other in accordance with specified parameters and a pre-programmed program. These machines can perform blind and through drilling, followed by thread cutting of a wide variety of shapes, high-precision grooves and ridges, and splined and tongue-and-groove joints. Grinding the surface of a part with a complex profile can be done using special cutters.
